Swipe Left, Pray Right: Tales of Discernment

Have you ever had someone suddenly claim they know you inside out? It's like, do you actually though? Because unless we're chatting every day and diving deep, what you see might just be the tip of the iceberg. Let's get real for a sec, shall we?

If you’ve seen my socials, and do not talk to me every day nor know me on a deeper level, you are probably thinking “Wait… you are religious now?”

Growing up, I had my fair share of church visits, Bible readings, the whole shebang. But honestly, it didn't quite click for me. I believed in a higher power, sure, but seeing folks act one way in church and another outside of it left me scratching my head. But thanks to my grandma's prayers, I never strayed too far off course.

As I got older, I started searching for meaning in all the wrong places – tarot readings, astrology, you name it. God? He was kind of on the back burner, only getting a shout-out when things hit the fan. Then, the universe threw me a curveball – I lost my job. Suddenly, I had all this time to sit with my thoughts, and boy, did I have questions.

I started praying more, setting boundaries, and making changes because I wanted to, not because I had to. And guess what? Things started falling into place, even when they didn't quite go to plan. Then came the part where I sat with myself and asked “What do I want most?” I wanted a partner to share life with. Because let's face it, love has a funny way of making us better people. And as much fun as the single life was, being a lover girl in a hook-up culture? Let's just say it was a bit of a letdown. It started to feel like my heart was getting a little too tough for its own good.

I began to started talk with God about my future husband. I got real specific – we're talking character traits, morals, personality quirks, you name it. I even threw in a request for someone on the tall side (hey, a girl's gotta have her preferences, right?). Lo and behold, he showed up. From a viral video, no less. Talk about divine intervention.

Oh, and he is everything I asked for, and more!

I made a promise to myself to read the Bible this year but really read it, not just take other people's word for it. And let me tell you, it's been eye-opening. I have a lot to go but here's what's struck me so far:

  1. Religion? Not the be-all and end-all. Jesus died so we could have a direct line to the Father HIMSELF, no middlemen required.

  2. Ever feel like you're not hearing from God? Step up your prayer game. Dive into the Bible. Trust me, he's always there, you just gotta tune in.

  3. Not all pastors and churches are created equal. Some are more about ego and dollar bills than spreading the good word. Lesson learned, big time.

  4. Unless you've cracked open the Good Book yourself, you're missing out. Don't let others twist the message to suit their agenda. And watch out for those wolves in sheep's clothing – they're everywhere.

So yeah, turns out the devil's got some slick moves. But once you strip away the distractions and focus on what truly matters, that's where the real magic happens. And let me tell you, it's a game-changer.

Why I'm sharing all this? Well, it's simple really. I'm laying it all out there – the ups, the downs, and everything in between. Because let's face it, life's a journey, and we're all just trying to figure it out as we go.

Along the way, I've had to make some tough calls – like letting go of certain friendships that just weren't serving me anymore. It's never easy, but when you've got that gut feeling (discernment) telling you it's time to move on, you've gotta listen.

Now, if you're on your own spiritual journey or just curious about what the whole God thing is all about, I'm all about building those spiritually aligned friendships.

And hey, even if this isn't your cup of tea, I'm still grateful you took the time to read this. No judgment here!

Matthew 7:1 says, "Do not judge, or you too will be judged". Words to live by, if you ask me. The verse continues, "For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you".

Alright, that's enough deep thoughts for one day. Sending you all the love! xx
